Licensed Music Educator and Certified Behavioral Technician
Emily Whelan holds a Music Performance degree and has enjoyed an international music career – performing and teaching professionally in Australia, Asia and the United States for over 20 years.
While in Australia, she was a regular performer with organizations such as the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Queensland, and Opera Australia. Along with her main stage repertoire, she also worked with celebrated outreach programs - bringing live performances and arts education to over 70,000 children each year.
In Singapore, Emily launched a private voice studio and taught music for young children through the Australian music program Mini Maestros. She conducted and performed in various choirs, including one near and dear to her heart—Numama—a choir for moms and their babies. She also had the opportunity to work extensively coaching and teaching grades PreK-8 at Stamford American International School of Singapore.
Emily moved to Washington in 2014 with her husband and their three children. Since moving to Issaquah, she has developed her own voice studio for young adults, and has become certified as a Kindermusik teacher. In recent years, she has pivoted away from performing, and instead now focuses fully on bringing music education and performance opportunities into the lives of young people.
Miss Emily's varied background has helped her to create a knowledgeable, flexible, and fun approach to music education. She has enchanted countless Pacific Northwest families with her voice, energy, and warmth, coupled with proven play-based approach to learning. She looks forward to bringing laughter and joy to your child!
A look into Emily's career portfolio
"Virtual learning provides a beautifully tangible connection between a child's imagination and their environment. Couches become cars, desks become drums, floors become forests, and pets become partners in crime. At home, I can meet every child in a space where they are truly receptive and comfortable, and can incorporate the places and people most precious to each individual. I strive to discover what is most important to your child, and encourage them as they bring their home environment to life! Through our sprightly adventures, the magic continues well beyond class time!" - Emily
